Presenting a case study from several UK museums. GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) are a vital civic service. Can we use QR codes to link exhibits and artefacts to their Wikipedia entries? Our technology demonstration allows a single QR code to link to multiple translations of an article based on a visitor's phone's set language. Using this, we can place a single QR code on an exhibit in a museum in England, then direct Japanese speakers to the Japanese article, German speakers to the German article etc. This allows GLAM institutes to measure engagement, track visitors language statistics, and direct people to more information than they could get from a regular exhibit.
This presentation will report on the results of trials held at Derby Museum - and potentially two others institutes.
